I am a gardener. I used to tidy up the leaf litter early in the spring, in early April. Now I know I should leave it for the butterflies to emerge first. If I see a mourning cloak butterfly is it safe to start tidying up the leaf litter? Is there a rule of thumb about this? Thanks
