Be the Change: Inspiration for the Future

Ontario Nature’s 88th Annual Gathering

Join us at Mohawk College in Hamilton for a weekend of change-inspiring workshops and a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Hamilton Naturalists’ Club – one of Ontario Nature’s founding groups.

The weekend will be filled with expert-led workshops, guest speakers, and opportunities to connect with new and old friends.

Program and Schedule of Activities

When: May 31st – June 2nd, 2019

Where: Mohawk College, Hamilton

Please check the program-at-a-glance for the entire weekend.

Nature Workshops run twice on Saturday, June 1st, so you will have the opportunity to participate in two workshops. The morning session runs from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. and the afternoon session runs from 1:15 to 3:00 p.m.

Field trips run on Sunday, June 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Participants will be picked up and dropped off at Mohawk College.

Accomodations at Mohawk College

We have pre-booked all accommodations in the residence at Mohawk College  in Hamilton. Accommodation is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so be sure to register early.

When you register, you have the option of booking an accommodation package or a non-accommodation package (see further details in registration section below).

The deadline for booking is May 1st, 2019, so please make sure you register before then.

Mohawk College has several other facilities that are available for your use, including a theatre and a games room.

Free parking is available for all guests staying at the college.

Suite Details

  • Rooms are booked individually but are located within a ‘suite’ in the residence that is shared with 1-2 other guests.
  • Each suite includes:
    • 2 private bedrooms with a double bed in each
    • A shared kitchen with a full fridge
    • A shared bathroom with a shower
  • You can choose between single-occupancy or double-occupancy for your private room. Please anticipate sharing your suite with another person or couple in the second private bedroom.
  • On the registration form you will have the option of stating if you would like to share your suite with 1-2 specific guests. We will do our best to accommodate you but cannot guarantee we will be able to fulfill everyone’s requests.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to contact Mohawk College to book accommodations, or will Ontario Nature do this on my behalf?
   A: Ontario Nature has booked a block of rooms at Mohawk College. If you have registered for one of our accommodation packages, Ontario Nature will assign you to a room. There is no need to contact Mohawk College.

Q: Are only Ontario Nature members welcome to attend the Annual General Meeting on Saturday, June 2nd at 3:30 p.m.?
   A: Both Ontario Nature members and non-members are welcome to join this meeting, however only Ontario Nature members are allowed to vote at the meeting. If you are interested in becoming a member of Ontario Nature, please visit our membership page, or feel free to contact us at 1-800-440-2366 ext. 233. Our Member Relations Coordinator, Kate Douglas, would be happy to assist you.

Q: I would only like to attend the Annual General Meeting. Can I register for only this part of the weekend?
   A: Yes, you can register for only this part of the weekend. Please call us at 1-800-440-2366 ext. 271.

Q: Is it possible to customize my registration?
   A: We will try our best to accommodate your needs. Please call Anna Dipple at 1-800-440-2366 ext. 271 or email her at annad@ontarionature.org.

Q: I do not drive or have access to a car. Are there any other transportation options for getting to and back from the event venue?
   A: Hamilton is very accessible by transit, and you can take a bus from various areas across the province.

Q: Can I request the other 1-2 guests I share a suite with?
   A: Yes, please indicate the full name of the person(s) you’d like to share the suite with when you register. Although we will do our best to accommodate you, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to fulfill everyone’s requests. Please contact Anna Dipple (annad@ontarionature.org or 1-800-440-2366, 416-444-8419 ext. 271) if you have any further questions or requests about accommodations.

Q: Can I request a refund if I’m no longer able to attend the event?
    A: Yes, you may request a refund up until the registration deadline of May 1st, but refunds will not be issued until after the event. Please contact Anna Dipple to request a refund (annad@ontarionature.org or 1-800-440-2366, 416-444-8419 ext. 271).
