Planting Event at Cawthra Mulock Nature Reserve


Join Ontario Nature biologists in restoring Cawthra Mulock Nature Reserve’s regenerating forest and pollinator meadows through a planting event. Learn about the local biodiversity that can be found on the nature reserve and its diversity of habitats. Volunteers will assist in native tree and shrub planting.
Schedule
This is a full day event. You can join us for the full session or leave after the first planting session.
9:30-10:00am – Registration and Welcome
10:00-10:15am – Welcome
10:15 – 10:45am – Educational hike to planting site
11am – 12:30pm – Planting
12:30 – 1:00pm – Lunch Break *(Bring Your Own Lunch)*
1:00 – 2:30pm – Planting
2:30 – 3:00pm – Return hike and Goodbyes
Food and drink: Please bring your own refillable water bottle, and lunches. Water and snacks will be provided by Ontario Nature.
Bathroom: There will be washroom facilities on site.
Clothing: Please wear closed toed shoes and long pants.
Directions: The nature reserve can be accessed by travelling north on Bathurst Street from Green Lane/Millers Side Road. The nature reserve is the second driveway on the left (west) side at 18462 Bathurst Street and is marked by a green and white Ontario Nature sign. The entrance to the nature reserve is 400 meters after the intersection at Green Lane/Millers Side Road, so please be prepared to turn as traffic moves fast along Bathurst St.

Parking instructions: The parking lot is located across from the white house.
Accessibility: The event will include a round-trip hike (2 kms) carrying equipment between 5 and 10 lbs. The event will include physical planting of shrubs and trees that involves bending and lifting at your own pace. Please let staff know if you have any challenges with lifting heavy objects. All equipment will be provided.
