Friends of the Salmon River hosts Michael Runtz, presenting: Wetlands – Oases of Life, with a Focus on Beavers

From floating peatlands to beaver ponds, wetlands are important reservoirs of water as well as essential habitat for myriad plants and animals. Join Michael Runtz for a lavishly illustrated presentation on wetlands and the rich biodiversity they support, including a special focus on Beavers as wetland engineers.

Michael Runtz has lived, breathed and worked with Nature all his life. He is an award-winning Biology professor at Carleton University, an outstanding nature photographer, an interpretive naturalist in Algonquin Park, and he hosted the international TV series Wild by Nature. Michael wrote Dam Builders: The Natural History of Beavers and Their Ponds.

Don’t miss this opportunity to join the Annual General Gathering of Friends of the Salmon River. On Thursday, October 30 at Selby Community Hall, 114B Pleasant Dr, Selby, ON just north of Napanee. All are welcome to this free event. Doors open at 6:30 for Meet & Greet and memberships/donations. The presentation begins at 7 pm.
