Join us for an unforgettable owl viewing experience! PEPtBO studies Northern Saw-Whet Owls every fall. Participants will be able to observe the banding of wild owls and will have an informative presentation from banding team.

There are public owl viewing events for a limited number of people.

Arrive around 7:30pm or 8pm (see dates for specific start times) for the first net check and expect to be there for a couple of hours awaiting owls to be caught.

Owl banding does not occur in the rain or very high winds. If the event needs to be moved to the rain date due to inclement weather you will be notified by 12pm the day of. 

1. Be sure to dress warmly, it is cold at night.

2. We can't guarantee seeing an owl. Have a photo of a bird or other creature to identify? OR have questions? Bring them along for our biologists to answer. Take advantage of your time with them.

3. Bring hot beverages, a chair, a toque, and a blanket even! A flashlight or headlamp would be handy for bathroom visits. It is dark at the station at night.

4. The road to the station is isolated. Please take care and take it slow in the dark, watch for animals. We are almost at the end of Long Point Road. When you see our flags and parked cars, you know you have arrived.

5. If you wish to support PEPtBO further, select merchandise will be available for purchase on site, cash or card accepted.

6. For the safety of the birds banding does not occur when it is raining or during other inclement weather.

7. Dogs are discouraged.
