Summer Wings: Youth Birding Event in Quinte West

Join Ontario Nature for a youth-friendly, beginner birding event in Quinte West!

Through an outing along the waterfront trail, participants will have the opportunity to use binoculars to practice bird identification basics, and learn more about the bird species that stay in Ontario during the summer. Participants will then create bird feeders using natural materials at Quinte West Public Library (Trenton Branch). While this event is designed for youth and beginner-level birders, all are welcome to attend.

While this event will be drop-in style, registration is recommended for reserving binoculars.

Through a hands-on workshop and birding outing, participants will: 

• Create bird feeders with natural materials, while learning best practices for feeder hygiene

• Learn about birds in Quinte Region

• Develop bird identification skills, explore local natural areas with expert guidance

*Binoculars and bird identification guides will be available for use!

Location(s): Quinte West Public Library, Trenton Branch (7 Creswell Dr, Trenton, ON K8V 5R6) & Millennium Trail.

Registration Notes: Any youth participants aged 12 or under require a parent or guardian to attend. Please note that the bird feeder workshop will involve handling of materials such as sunflower seeds and Wow Butter (soy and palm oil).
