Ontario Nature is thrilled to hear the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing’s announcement today that the provincial government will be removing Schedule 10 from Bill 66. The government has indeed listened to the people. The public outcry demonstrated loud and clear that ensuring that we have clean water and sustainable development are at the core of Ontarian’s values and not negotiable.
Schedule 10 was not only an assault on the Greenbelt and surrounding areas – it threatened the drinking water, farmland and natural heritage of every municipality in Ontario.
We are proud to have worked in lockstep with our Nature Network of 150 groups that are rooted in communities across Ontario to fight one of the most alarming attacks on the environment we have seen in decades.
