OFO’s Alan Wormington Young Birders Camp; Birds and Nature of Algonquin Park
August 17 - August 24$700
OFO’s Alan Wormington Young Birders Camp is a week-long immersive birding and nature camp in the heart of Algonquin Park.
Led by professional scientists and park naturalists, campers experience first-hand the birds, moths, dragonflies, snakes, mushrooms and ecology of the park.
Campers stay in rustic cabins at the Algonquin Wildlife Research Station in the heart of the park. Set beside a small private lake in a mature forest teaming with wildlife, the station is a hub for wildlife researchers and a perfect base for exploring Algonquin Park’s natural environment.
Daily activities include:
• birding at hotspots in the park
• learning from researchers about their field research projects
• wildlife photography
• ample time for independent exploration, canoeing and swimming
Previous campers have enjoyed sightings of boreal birds, moose, beavers, bears, otters and martens. The wolf howl is a special highlight.
The camp costs $700 for the week which includes accommodation, meals and transportation to locations in the park. Campers must be 13-18 years old. Dietary requirements can be accommodated.
