The rare Spring Plant Sale and Eco-Market

May 25 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

It’s been all hands on deck this past week as rare staff and volunteers have worked to move over 5,000 seedlings into the Slit Barn ahead of Saturday’s Plant Sale and Eco-Market. The tent is set up, and everything is ready to go. We, along with 16 artisans and vendors, 2 seed savers, 3 environmental organizations, 2 landscaping company sponsors, 1 cafe and 1 food truck, are excited to see you out at the Slit Barn at 768 Blair Road from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomor+row. Before you come out, however, here are some things you should know:

Credit Cards & Debit Cards are Welcome,

but be Prepared to Bring some Cash.

The rare Plant Sale in the Slit Barn is happy to accept cash, credit cards and debit cards for payment, but we can’t guarantee that for every vendor in our EcoMarket tent. So, don’t be disappointed if you’re browsing among the artist tables and you find that one-of-a-kind must-have item. Instead, have some cash on hand to pay the vendor.

Parking is Limited to Plant Sale Attendees,

Walking, Biking and Carpooling are Encouraged.

The parking lot at the rare ECO Centre and Slit Barn will be reserved for Plant Sale and Eco-Market customers until 3 p.m. We apologize for any inconvenience to anybody coming to walk on rare’s ECO Trail or the Grand Trunk Trail. Further, space in our parking lot is limited. We ask, if possible, for people to carpool or walk or bike to the event, such as along the Walter Bean Grand River Trail. Those that do can fill out a ballot to be entered into a draw for five native plants from the Plant Sale.

Melville’s Cafe at the Market from 8-2;

Passado Brasil’s Food Truck arrives at 11 and departs at 2.

We are pleased to report that Melville’s Cafe will be at this event, selling coffee, cookies, croissants and other baked goods. Moreover, they’ll be donating 25% of their day’s sales to rare. We’re also pleased to welcome the award-winning Passado Brasil Food Truck from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Customers at Passado Brasil can also fill out ballots to be entered into a draw for a special platter designed by Wild Carolinian Pottery — as if you needed an extra incentive to have lunch!

Food Donations Welcome for Local Food Banks.

In addition to our cashiers in the Slit Barn, rare will have its own table within the Eco-Market. Stop by and say hi, check out some of our publications, consider buying a Pollinator Garden sign, or enter to win more prizes! We will be accepting donations of non-perishable food items to the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank at this event, so if you bring along such items, please drop them off at our table.
