The Quetico Foundation Dinner is back!

October 30 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

2019 Fall Quetico Foundation Dinner

This very popular dinner will be held at the University Club of Toronto. An exciting speaker has been booked. Adam Shoalts, author and explore-in-residence of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society is our speaker on Wednesday October 30th.

The Trustees are eager for you to SAVE the evening of Wed. October 30th in your calendar.

Adam Shoalts, Explorer-in-Residence of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and #1 national best-selling author of Alone Against the North, will join us to tell us about his brand new book, Beyond the Trees: A Journey Alone Across Canada’s Arctic, which tells the story of his solo canoe journey across nearly 4,000 km of arctic wilderness. Shoalts will also share pictures from his adventures at the dinner and his new book will be available for purchase and signing.

A picture is always better than words so Adam’s publicist has provided me with this photo of him.
I just tried to check in with Adam, but his email account replied with “I’m in the wilderness at the moment with no access to email or phone until I return in the first week of September”. We hope he is safe and enjoying his time exploring an uncharted river in the far north!

Check out this interview of Adam by David McGuffin. Even listening to the first few minutes of this interview will leave you committed to attending the 2019 Fall Quetico Foundation Dinner.

Adam’s Latest book is Beyond the Trees. Adam will have copies of his latest book for sale at the dinner. If it is anything like his previous books, you will not be able to put it down once you start reading. Adam is a tenacious and fearless explorer who has an amazing ability to make you fell that you are right with him as he paddles remote uncharted rivers or walks across unimaginable landscapes.

Here are Adam’s website, his Facebook page and Instagram account

We encourage you to share this information with friends.

Please forward this message to any of your canoeing friends who are interested in learning more about how the Quetico Foundation is assisting Quetico Provincial Park as Ontario’s epic wilderness tripping experience.

Margaret Casey is a recently appointed Trustee. She and her husband have attended many of the previous Quetico dinners and we have tripped in Quetico on 2 occasions. Both were magical and challenging wilderness canoe trips, very different from our experiences in Algonquin Park and Temagami. She has volunteered for many years with many organizations that have an environmental focus and was asked to become a Trustee of the Quetico Foundation this past spring. Margaret wants to help protect the wilderness resiliency of such a special provincial park. Over the summer Margaret read both of Adam’s previous books,  A History of Canada in 10 Maps and Alone Against the North and enjoyed both immensely.

Tickets will be available for purchase in mid September.
