Seed Collection and Restoration at Sydenham River Nature Reserve!

Come explore the magnificent Sydenham River Nature Reserve and have a hand in restoration through seed collecting and planting!

About this Event

Are you interested in learning about what goes into restoring agricultural fields? Join us on Saturday, October 5th, 2019 between 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Sydenham River Nature Reserve for a day of seed collection and seed planting. This event will allow for attendees to learn about the process of how to collect native tree seeds and identify their viability. Attendees will also assist in planting the seeds to allow them a chance to grow. Come explore the magnificent Sydenham River Nature Reserve and have a hand in restoring the reserve!


10:30 am – 11:00 am – Registration

11:00 am – 1:00 pm – Seed collection

1:00 pm – 1:30 pm – Lunch

1:30 pm – 3:30 pm – Dividing seed and planting

Meeting location: The nature reserve is approximately 60 km south-west of London in the Lake Erie Lowlands region. We will meet on Oil Springs Line, 1 km east of Nauvoo Road. Please park on the shoulder of Oil Springs Line. The reserve is unmarked but we will have temporary Ontario Nature signage to welcome you.

To Bring: Please bring a re-fillable water bottle for drinking. Remember to wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Some gloves and trowels will be provided but feel free to bring your own. Please bring your own lunch.
