Our Special Spaces – shoreline cleanup and pollinator monitoring in Whitby

May 5 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Pollinator garden planting event,Our Special Spaces 2016, Thickson’s Woods Nature Reserve

Join Ontario Nature Youth Council member Natalie and the Thickson’s Woods Land Trust  for a shoreline cleanup and pollinator monitoring event in Whitby. All ages are welcome, and you can also receive volunteer hours!

We will meet at the main parking lot by Kiwanis Heydenshore Park (589 Water St in Whitby), cleanup the shoreline, and then take a short hike to a pollinator garden created during a previous Our Special Spaces event. At the garden we will share how volunteers can get involved with pollinator monitoring, citizen science and steps they can take to protect pollinators after the event.

Please bring anything you feel you need for outdoor activities (i.e. hat, sunscreen, water, etc.) as well as snacks. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided for the cleanup. It is recommended to have a smartphone to participate in the monitoring activity.

To RSVP, please email Christine at christinea@ontarionature.org.

We hope to see you there! To find out about other Our Special Spaces events across the province, please visit: ontarionature.org/our-special-spaces
