North Simcoe Nature Clubs Joint Meeting

September 15 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Free. Please contact mpfieldnaturalists@gmail.com to register

Midland-Penetanguishene Field Naturalists / mpfieldnaturalists@gmail.com

Well, we’ve booked the hall and the guest speaker and we’re looking forward to finally taking our turn as host of the annual Joint Meeting of North Simcoe Nature Clubs on Thurs. Sept. 15, 2022 7:30 PM at the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre in Midland.
We were originally slated to be the host of this meeting in 2020 but we all know what happened.  The rotation of this event goes in a counter clockwise circle around the county, meaning Nature Barrie would be the next one up in 2023.
David Hawke has agreed to be the featured speaker for the evening.  He is preparing a new presentation “A Tale of Two Marshes: The Natural and Cultural History of Wye Marsh and Tiny Marsh”.
The format of this meeting has always been that representatives of the four clubs, Midland, Barrie, Carden and Orillia, take the floor at the beginning of the meeting to share what’s been going on with their group.  I know we have over 2 years to cover, but it’s still best to limit your remarks to 10 or 15 minutes.  We don’t want the entire audience to fall asleep before the beginning of David’s talk!
We will keep our eye on updates of the public health situation.  Right now masks, though recommended, are optional at the Wye Marsh.  There is no need to check vaccination status, although again it is highly recommended that everyone be up to date with their boosters.
We will meet in the education room at the Wye Marsh which has an official capacity of 160.  At this time full capacity is allowed.
Let us know if you have other suggestions as to how to safely conduct this meeting.  Also please reply letting us know who will represent your group at the meeting.  And please let your membership know that we invite them all to come to Midland for what should be a fun and hopefully safe meeting.
