Nature in Whitby: Birds of Rosedale Park

May 17 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Chestnut-sided warbler

Join Ontario Nature Youth Council and birding specialists to learn about the birds that visit the Town of Whitby. Rosedale Park is a pocket of suburban biodiversity, home to a variety of flora and fauna including birds who visit the naturalized area during spring migration. Learn about birds, how to use and contribute to community science initiatives (e.g., eBird, iNaturalist, NatureCounts), and other species that reside in Rosedale Park like the Orange bluet, a species of damselfly found in wetland ecosystems. Participants will also hear from Ontario Nature Youth Council members about their connections to the park and current projects such as their wetlands conservation initiative, including Ontario Nature’s wetlands StoryMap.

This is a free introductory level nature event for youth. However, we welcome folks of all ages and experience levels to join and share their knowledge in a welcoming space.
