Join Ontario Nature’s Boreal Program Manager, Dr. Julee Boan, and Nature Reserves Manager, Smera Sukumar, for a live webinar discussion about climate change solutions.

During this one-hour presentation, we will discuss nature-based climate solutions, our Protected Places Campaign, the upcoming 2022 provincial election, and more.

Julee leads our northern programming, working collaboratively with local conservation groups, First Nations, and industry to seek environmentally responsible approaches to economic development in northern Ontario. She completed a Ph.D. in forest sciences focussing her research on mitigating the impact of industrial logging on woodland caribou. She is currently sitting on the board of directors for Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Canada and is a member of Ontario’s Forest Carbon Technical Working Group.

Smera manages Ontario Nature’s 26 nature reserves and three conservation easements for biodiversity conservation. She manages research projects, works closely with volunteer stewards and partner organizations, and conducts public outreach. Smera holds a M.Sc. Biodiversity & Conservation from the University of Leeds, UK and previously completed a B.Sc. Zoology at the University of Guelph.
