Hands off the Greenbelt – Oakville Rally

November 25 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

GASP and friends are protesting the Ford Government’s housing plan, Bill 23, and we need your help to tell them to keep “their hands off the greenbelt”.

Please join us on Friday, November 25th at 11:30-12:30 at the corner of Rebecca and Kerr (outside Stephen Crawford’s office) and add your voice to the ever-growing chorus of citizens who are asking:

  • Why will 7,400 acres of Greenbelt be paved over (breaking the Ford promise not to touch the Greenbelt)?
  • Why will the long-fought-for decisions of municipal councils to freeze urban boundaries be overturned by the Ford Government?
  • Why will all citizens be denied the ability to appeal land development to the Ontario Land Tribunal?  Only developers will be able to appeal.
  • Why is the Ford government pursuing a plan which denies climate realities when there are 88,000 acres of approved land ready for development?

We hope you will be part of democracy in action and join us in taking a stand on Friday. Bring bells/whistles, signs, and friends (signs will be provided). Please share with all your contacts.

Wetlands, Forests, Conservation Lands, and the Greenbelt are all under threat!  Only a major outpouring of public opposition can stop these dangerous attacks on Ontario’s environment.
