Communities, Trees & Wildflowers of the Stone Road Alvar
June 22 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Join Gerry Waldron (author of Trees of the Carolinian Forest) for a walk through Ontario Nature’s Stone Road Alvar Nature Reserve. This is an exceptional ecosystem with very high biodiversity, from the exposed limestone bedrock and the species that only occur around the ring of thin soil, to prairie-like vegetation and dry woodlands of Carolinian trees and shrubs on the deeper soils. Hopefully some members of the alvar fauna will make an appearance.
Meeting Location: At the Carolinian Canada sign mid-way down Stone Road on the west side, parking along the road. You can look up directions using google maps (https://goo.gl/h91eF8)
To Bring: Please bring snacks and water. Remember to wear long pants and closed-toed shoes.
