BIRDING FIELD TRIPS
GENERAL NATURE/BOTANY FIELD TRIPS
BUCKET RAFFLE AND BIRD QUIZ

Limestone cliffs and sand beaches, hardwood forests and cedar swamps, fens and alvars – this variety of ecosystems on the Bruce Peninsula makes it a special place for naturalists.

South Peel Naturalists’ Club extends an invitation members of your club to join us to explore the Bruce Peninsula. This annual weekend event provides the opportunity to see the best of the Bruce with expert leaders and in the company of fellow naturalists.

The cost per person for the weekend:
– $20 registration fee – covers cost of bucket raffle prizes and lodging for volunteer leaders
– $253.76 (+ 13% taxes) per person for two nights’ accommodation at Evergreen Resort, Mar, ON (includes all meals and snacks)

WEEKEND ACTIVITIES SCHEDULE

ON ARRIVAL FRIDAY EVENING
Meet with others in the Resort dining room. Pick up check lists, hot spot lists, maps and the Bird Quiz.

Throughout the weekend, make sure to add your sightings to our record board at the SPNC table.

Friday May 22
6:00 pm – Dinner
7:00 pm – Fieldtrip: Birding OR Botany
9:30 pm – Sticky buns in the main building

Saturday May 23
6:00 am – Field Trip: Birding
8:00 am – Breakfast
9:15 am –Fieldtrip: Birding OR Botany
12:30 – Lunch
1:45 – Fieldtrips: Birding OR Botany
6:00 pm – Dinner followed by Bucket Raffle
7:30 pm – Field trip – Birding OR Botany
9:30 pm –Homemade Pizza in the main building
Bird Quiz Fun in the main building

Sunday May 24
6:00 am – Fieldtrip: Birding
8:00 am – Breakfast
9:15 am – Fieldtrips: Birding OR Botany
12:30 – Lunch
1:30 pm Round up
2:30 pm Depart

If you do not wish to participate in the scheduled fieldtrips, there are many places nearby to explore nature, walk on a beach, shop, etc. Or stay at Evergreen Resort and take a plunge in the heated pool or lounge by the fireplace in the main building.

REGISTRATION AND COST FOR THE WEEKEND

SPNC Participant Fee – $20 per person

Payable to SPNC on registration by cheque or cash – funds used to pay the cost of accommodation for our volunteer leaders and purchase bucket raffle prizes.

Register at the March or April SPNC Meeting or mail registration fee to SPNC’s address.

Participants must make reservations and pay for their accommodations directly with Evergreen Resort.

Special rate for ‘SPNC Red Bay Weekend’ participants
– 1 to 3 nights – $126.88 per night per person (plus 13% HST). – all meals and snacks are included.
