Bird banding – A Research Tool for Understanding Bird Migration

March 28 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

“Bird banding – A Research Tool for Understanding Bird Migration” with Brian Joyce

Established in 1995, the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory is one of the most successful migration monitoring stations in Canada. Brian Joyce will take us behind the scenes of this research station situated on a National Wildlife Area near Lake Ontario. Brian will explain how birds are captured, recorded and safely released. Learn how this globally significant birding area attracts an abundance of song birds, butterflies and Sawwhet owls every year.

Brian is the Co-founder of the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory who received his ecology degree from Carlton University.
