Assessing Carbon Storage for Conservation: Ontario Nature’s New Guide
October 26 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
From increasing protected areas to improving land management, carbon stock assessments can advance conservation. Join Ontario Nature’s Protected Places team as they discuss their latest publication, “A Beginner’s Guide on Measuring Carbon Stocks to Support Conservation,” and their journey to demystify carbon stock assessments. Team members will speak about the guide’s purpose, share stories about its creation and discuss the future of nature-based climate solutions in Ontario.
At this webinar, we’ll hear from:
– Jenna Cardoso, Protected Places Project Coordinator, who will introduce the project and lessons learned to date.
– Graeme Smith, GIS Administrative Coordinator, who will provide key insights from carbon assessment experts.
– Kristen Setala, Community Science Assistant, who will highlight the do’s and don’ts of collecting soil samples in northern Ontario.
– Jenna Kip, Protected Places Assessment Coordinator, who will share insights on field data gathered alongside volunteers at our nature reserves in southern Ontario.
Please join us to celebrate our newly released carbon guide and learn about the importance of this work for advancing conservation in Ontario.
