There will be a variety of activities for families of all ages, including the trout release, live reptiles from Science North, identifying aquatic bugs from the stream, games, and more. Explore community booths, cool off with ice pops from Papaya Pops, and enjoy BBQ food and drinks available for purchase.
The event begins at 12 PM by the creek with an opening ceremony led by Better Beginnings Better Futures – Indigenous Led Program, starting the day in a good way with drum and song, followed by opening remarks and a tobacco offering.
There will also be a special unveiling of a bronze sculpture by artist Tyler Fauvelle, made possible with support from Ramakko’s Source for Adventure and Agnico Eagle Ltd. The artwork commemorates the legacy of the late Dr. Jane Goodall and her involvement in the 2002 trout release, a defining moment in the watershed’s recovery journey. This artwork will be connected to Junction Creek youth programs, continuing to inspire hope through action and reminding us that meaningful change is rooted in connection to the natural world, collaborative effort, and the belief that every individual can make a difference.
Volunteers are needed to help at the event! Whether you enjoy connecting with people, being outdoors, or supporting a great cause, there is a role for you. You will also have time to enjoy the festival, and you will receive free food and drinks during the event. Ready to be part of something meaningful?
