Biodiversity

Wilderness and wildlife are central to Ontarians’ vision of our province. For naturalists and outdoor enthusiasts, healthy wildlife populations are perhaps the most compelling indicator of ecosystem health and stability. Ontario Nature envisions a future Ontario where wildlife populations - be they flora or fauna - are healthy and flourishing. The state of biodiversity in Ontario is central to our future - from Carolinian warblers at Lake Erie to polar bears on our Arctic coast.

Ontario Nature works to protect wildlife, species at risk, and habitats, with particular attention to bird conservation issues. Ontario Nature is actively involved in research and policy issues that inform sound decision-making for conservation, the protection of habitats and communities, and public education regarding wildlife and the environment.
